Goodwell

If you're headed to Goodwell, know this up front: it's farmland and forestland, quiet country roads that don't pretend to be anything else. The township spreads across nearly thirty-six square miles of Newaygo County with a population of about five hundred thirty souls—low density, high acreage, the kind of place where you can own real land and still see sky. The Township Hall, built in eighteen ninety-three, sits on the corner of Three Mile Road and Cypress near the old cemetery, a brick anchor to a community that's been organized since eighteen eighty-two but has never grown into a town or village. Most of what you'll find here is trees, fields, and the rhythm of rural living.
