Jordan Lake sits nearby, drawing folks who fish for largemouth bass and northern pike or just want a deck overlooking water. A railroad arrived in 1889, the village incorporated in 1892, and the bones of that era still show in the buildings downtown—one stretch of brick storefronts locals genuinely call some of the coolest small-town architecture in Michigan.
