Down at the southern end of the Grandville area, where the southwest side of the Grand Rapids metro runs up against M-6 and the Grand River, the land turns to newer subdivisions and standalone condos threaded through wooded ravines. The name is a plain geographic one — the southern portion of Grandville, a city that took its own name from its spot on the Grand River — rather than a platted village with a founding story of its own.
