The southeast corner of Kentwood, where 52nd Street SE meets Kalamazoo Avenue, holds one of the area's early platted subdivisions — laid out in 1965 and named, like several of its neighbors, after an Ivy League campus. Princeton Meadows and Dartmouth Farms sit close by, part of a cluster of collegiate-named streets and plats that grew up together on this side of town. The original 1960s section filled in first; developers pushed homesites eastward toward Breton Avenue and the M-6 corridor through the late 1980s and 1990s, which is why the housing here reads like a timeline — 1960s ranches near the western edge, 1990s two-stories farther east, and newer construction infill in the Bretonfield Preserve section along the Breton Avenue extension.
