Cottages and year-round homes cluster near the shoreline, many with decks angled toward the view, while wooded properties deeper inland offer space and seclusion; some parcels border thousands of acres of federal land across the street, which means serious hunters and hikers don't have to travel far. What draws people back, though, isn't the amenities—it's simpler than that. The public beach is freshly maintained each summer, the water stays all-sports through the season, and Rose's still sells caramel corn from the same spot it always has, a small comfort that anchors the place to something older than anyone here can quite remember.
