Maplewood

Named for Maplewood Drive, the residential spine it grew up around, this pocket of Jenison sits about 15 minutes west of downtown Grand Rapids, just off the 12th Avenue and Bauer Road corridors in Georgetown Charter Township. The surrounding streets keep the theme going — Cottonwood Drive, Briarwood Avenue, Rosewood Street — a grid of tree-named lanes that filled in largely from the mid-20th century onward. There's no single platting date on record; what's here instead is the housing that came with that era: all-brick mid-century ranches, postwar bungalows, Cape Cods, and later two-story traditionals, many with hardwood floors, finished basements with rec rooms, fenced yards, and a fair number of in-ground pools. Scattered among the single-family blocks are smaller condominium and 55-plus communities — New Amsterdam Village, Pine Grove Estates, and the build-to-suit Maple Leaf Condos near the park.
