Evening light catches the old mill site along Bear Creek, where Buena Vista Hill rises to 751 feet and frames nearly 200 years of local history—the Buena Vista Mill, rebuilt in 1881 after burning down, once powered the grist operations that fed the farming communities here on the boundary between Cannon and Plainfield townships. The steep descent of Bear Creek over those dozen miles created the water power that drew settlers in the first place, and you can still feel that pull when you stand near where the creek enters the Grand River. It's a small, mostly historical settlement now, nothing like the subdivisions a few miles west toward Grand Rapids, but if you're drawn to land with character and creek access rooted in something real, this stretch has it.
