Wilderness Lake

Driving out here, the roads open up fast—you're trading closer quarters for space and trees almost immediately. Lots run generous, and the landscape shifts from suburban density to something with real breathing room; many properties back onto or front the water, and the Pere Marquette River—a National Wild and Scenic river—runs through the area, making it a draw for canoeists, kayakers, and anglers. Fishing's a quiet anchor to daily life: Tussing Lake sits right here, shallow and pan-friendly, and the docks and launches get regular use. Trails ribbon through, too, so you can ride or walk straight into the surrounding woods. Hungerford Lake Recreation Area is about four miles south if you want a formal access point, but most folks here are already living the outdoor part—it's not something you drive to, it's what's at your door.
