Lamar Park

Everything here orbits the 75-acre municipal park that gives the neighborhood its name. Lamar Park spreads out along Porter Street SW in west-central Wyoming, about five miles southwest of downtown Grand Rapids, and the streets that face it treat it like a shared front yard. The park packs in a splash pad that runs from early June through Labor Day, a 9-hole disc golf course that loops just under a mile through the trees, a paved path circling a large pond, ball diamonds, tennis and sand volleyball courts, soccer fields, and two playgrounds — one built with adaptive equipment. Summer brings concerts and fireworks, close enough that homes across the street watch from their porches. TwoGuys Brewing is a short hop away, and the shopping and dining strung along 28th Street SW — plus Rivertown Crossings a few minutes south — round out the errands.
