The Personal Mastery educational model here has drawn state and national attention for its personalized learning approach—it's the kind of thing that shows up in education circles, not just parent Facebook groups. The district spans roughly 30,000 acres across Alpine Township, Comstock Park, Walker, and parts of Tallmadge and Wright townships, a patchwork of residential neighborhoods, orchards, and commercial areas that came together from nearly a dozen rural school consolidations back in the early 1960s.
