The one thing you need to know before you drive out here: Payne Lake itself is the whole point. The shoreline draws everyone—all-sports water in summer, ice in winter, and enough sandy beach that you'll actually want to be lakeside. Homes scattered through the area lean hard into that water view; a handful have direct frontage, most sit a short distance away with easy access. The neighborhood threads through Yankee Springs, so you're living in a genuinely rural corner of the county, but downtown Grand Rapids is about 40 minutes south when you need it, and Gerald R. Ford airport runs about 29 minutes.
