The name comes from Latin words meaning "home" and "new," which feels honest: it's rural enough that most residents own their land, with corner lots and fenced yards and room to breathe, yet organized enough around the village center to have a Cafe and restaurants where people actually eat. Grose Park and a farm greenhouse anchor the working side of things; about 23 miles from Grand Rapids, it's close enough for supply runs but far enough that you're genuinely out in Tyrone township territory.
