You're really going to feel the drive once you leave—it's a solid 46 minutes into downtown Grand Rapids, and the grocery store is a good half-hour walk away, so you'll want a car for most errands. That said, you're eight-and-a-half minutes from Grand Haven beach, which is the kind of proximity that makes weekend plans easy, and there are a couple of grocery stores within a two-mile radius if you need them. The Rosy Mound Natural Area is about a 17-minute walk, so there's outdoor access without being deep in the woods. It's the kind of place where you've got some breathing room, but you're trading walkability for proximity to the shoreline.
